All Wii want for Christmas

12 December 2008
Nintendo Wii is set to be a clear winner this Christmas, if December search term results from Lasoo.com.au are anything to go by. The Wii console and games are currently the most sought after purchases and gifts for the festive season.

“Wii” has continuously been at number one in Lasoo.com.au’s searched for items, with 18,937 searches being conducted in the first week of December. In addition to this, of the 12,146 Pre-Shop™ wishlists that have been created in the last month, over 1,906 (11%) of the items on these lists are for a Wii or Wii-related product.

The majority of Lasoo.com.au’s one million monthly visitors are mothers with kids under the age of 16 and as a result Christmas morning is looking a little sunnier with gifts of gadgets and gaming galore for the family.

Other consumer electronics items are also in demand this Christmas. The top five searched for items in December 2008 include Nintendo DS and iPod. Leading retailer BIG W has observed a similar trend, with Wii and consumer electronics the popular gift this Christmas.

Lasoo.com.au’s best deals at Aussie retailers on the hot ticket consumer electronics products to help shoppers save on their Christmas shopping include:

However, 58% believe that they will blow their budgets this year – could this be caused by the Wii phenomenon?
