Salmat brings retail product search to mobile handsets
| 30 March 2009
| Salmat Digital, a division of Salmat, has today launched two unique services for the mobile phone.
1. Mobile Search will allow retailers to have their own mobile internet site, offering fast searching of their products as well as a handy store locator while people are out shopping. 2. Lasoo Mobile will bring the power of Australia’s leading search engine for retail products to the shopper while they are out and about. Gone will be the question “I wonder if this is on sale somewhere else?”
According to Peter Mattick, joint Managing Director of Salmat Ltd: “It’s no longer enough for Australian consumers to search for in-store retail products from their home or work computer – they now want complete mobility. We are giving them access to this information on their mobile phones and the retailers advertising on these services can expect to reap the benefits.”
The two services represent the next generation of online retail product aggregation and search in Australia and were introduced after heavy demand from users of Lasoo.com.au. Mobile Search is a revolutionary product for the Australian market, offering Australian retailers an easy way to get their own branded mobile site, with the most relevant functionality of their websites now available on-the-go.
It adds yet another channel for retailers to get their advertising message in front of a location-targeted and engaged audience, bringing a retailer’s products to consumers anywhere at any time. Users can set their location to ensure only products relevant to their current location are displayed, while the store locator will direct them to the nearest store.
Retailers who are already using Salmat DigitalForce’s Dynamic Catalogue service to host their catalogues online can have Mobile Search switched on very easily.
Meanwhile, Lasoo Mobile (http://m.lasoo.com.au) allows users with internet-enabled phones to search across products from their favourite local retailers. They can also use the store locator to find the nearest store of the retailer advertising that product. Being able to quickly search across products from Australia’s biggest retailers such as Target, Dick Smith, Coles and Big W will empower the shopper to make a more informed buying decision.
